Five reasons to apply
1 month left to the application deadline! We give you five reasons to apply for the International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition in Bergen.
1) Grieg Competition is a first class international competition with an excellent jury, among them Einar Steen-Nøkleberg, Leif Ove Andsnes and Hiroko Nakamura.
2) The final concert will be with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the conductor is Ed Gardner, and the 1st Prize is 30.000 Euro (2nd Prize 20.000 and 3rd Prize 10.000 Euro).
3) The whole week is packed with events in Edvard Grieg's historic city. In addition to the competition rounds, there will be concerts, master classes, excursions and more, even a recital with Seong-Jin Cho, the winner of the Chopin Competition 2015. All events are free to the participants.
4) Free housing with host families in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and generous access to practicing facilities during the competition.
5) An income that can cover travel expenses, and concerts as well! Paid concerts (500 Euro) for candicates who do not continue from the 1st and 2nd rounds + a 1000 Euro prize for semi-finalists.
