Ah Ruem Ahn winner of Grieg Competition 2016

South-Korean winner of Grieg Competition!


Ah Ruem Ahn (32) from South Korea is the winner of The International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition. Together with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Ahn performed Robert Schumann: Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54. The first prize of 30 000 euro also include a CD recording on the label NAXOS, an engagement as a festival artist at the Lofoten Piano Festival in 2018 and a solo recital in the Oslo University Aula at the Oslo Grieg Festival in June 2017. It is also invitations to piano concerto with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, a chamber concert arranged by Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and at Lillenorge Festival in Berlin May 2017. Ahn also recive the Henle Urtext Price which includes 500 euros in sheet music from Henle Verlag, and a 200 euro voucher for the digital Henle Library. Ah Ruem Ahn will also come back to Troldhaugen during next summer to have a number of public concerts as “Pianist of the Week”. Ahn also won the audience prize.

2nd prize and 20 000 euro went to Zhenni Li from China; she also received the orchestra´s prize.

3rd prize and 10 000 euro went to Ben Cruchley from Canada.
