After a week of intense competition the 17th International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition reaches its thrilling climax.

Three finalists will battle it out at the Grieg Hall to be named winner, accompanied by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Lawrence Foster. Don’t miss this chance to see a piano superstar of tomorrow being introduced to the world.

This final concert consists of three piano concertos which are determined by the outcome of the first 3 rounds. Three finalists will perform their selected piano concertos with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and compete for the three prizes of 30.000, 20.000 and 10.000 euros. The audience is invited to vote for the Audience Prize, and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra will present the Orchestra’s Prize.

The concert starts with Remembrances from Lyric Pieces by Ørjan Matre. The orchestra will also perform Anitra’s Dance by Edvard Grieg and Anitra by Harald Sæverud. Our concert host for the evening is Gunilla Süssmann.

Lawrence Foster will conduct the concerts. Foster is Music Director at Opéra de Marseille and Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. Known for his exhilarating and expressive performances in a wide range of music, he enjoys a major career spanning the US, Europe and Asia.
